The BlackBerry Passport (BBID).

The BlackBerry Identification (BBID) is not just important but the MUST-HAVE for Every Blackberry User that’s why we decided to call it the ‘BlackBerry Passport’, and since there is now BBM for Android and iOS users, they too are not left out. According to BlackBerry, BlackBerry ID is a single, master key to BlackBerry products, sites, services and applications, including BlackBerry Protect and the BlackBerry World storefront.

Major uses of the BBID include:

  • Simplified access to BlackBerry products and services.
  • Privacy and security controls for your BlackBerry Device.
  • A personalized and customizable experience.

The BBID is your ‘Master Key’ to everything BlackBerry and it is very important that you have YOUR OWN BBID, even if you plan on switching to a different device (iOS,Android or Windows Phones). Apart from the fact that you may need to access BBM on your iOS or Android, you may also decide to come back to the Blackberry OS again some time later. With your BlackBerry ID you can :

How To Maximise Your BlackBerry Battery Life**

The BlackBerry battery is one of if not the most essential part of a BlackBerry, once your BlackBerry’s battery ‘is too low for radio use’, it becomes quite frustrating to perform tasks and socialize, most people even say the BlackBerry becomes useless, others resolve to playing games while others just turn the BlackBerry to an MP3 player, but FathomBerry is going to show you how to preserve, maintain and maximise your battery life and make sure your BlackBerry battery lasts longer than the norm.

Our Stand
As at june 2013 Redmond Pie posted some infographic data comparing major and recent smartphone batteries and there the Z10 was chosen to represent the BlackBerry family. Here are the results under different categories:

BlackBerry World 101** Downloads + OS Upgrades!!!!

Hey guys. Happy new month!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
So, I was just going through my BB and decided to jump into the BlackBerry World (formerly Blackberry app world) and then I remembered a friend once told me that she had downloaded an app and never enjoyed it because it kept crashing or sometimes caused another app to crash or malfunction. So well here’s just a couple of things I do before I hit the download button:

* Check if the update is for your device (especially if your device is branded eg AT n T,Rogers,T-mobile etc) OS updates*

* Check what version of OS you have installed on your device ( type ‘myver’ and hit space) the new update might not just be new to you or even necessary. OS updates*

* Read reviews from other users who have installed the app or OS already. Then you can decide from their judgement. This is very important.

* Before you download an app,check the size of the app and then use the Application manager to look at all apps on your device to check which you rarely use or never used, you could just delete one just before you download another just to conserve space.

* This should have come first,but well, YOU MUST HAVE A BLACKBERRY ID, YOUR OWN ID and never share your password with anyone. If you’re someone that really buys apps you’d know that this really helps so you don’t have to pay for an app twice just incase you delete it and also to transfer your applications from an old device to a new one easily.

* Some themes are not meant for all devices, you might install it and it looks quiet nice but then some features on your phone might become hidden,so find out if the theme is really for your device just before you DL it.

* ALWAYS do a back-up before upgrading your OS or even downloading an app,you never can tell what app will crash your device. A simple back-up with your BB protect or the BlackBerry Desktop Manager won’t take too long but WILL save you a lot.

* Sometimes when BlackBerry rolls out an app it might take a while before it circulates and also there might be a case of a general update and you notice that yours is unusually not showing up in the BlackBerry World, open the BB world, click ‘my world’, and let it refresh, if it doesn’t, then hold down the ‘alt’ button while you press ‘rst’,then wait for the BlackBerry world to close, then open it again, that should refresh your application list. It’s more or less like a hard reset.

* Just before I leave,I’ll just say: feel free to explore the BlackBerry world. There are about 250k apps available for all BlackBerry Smartphones.

Have a Berry blessed week.

……Who Really Should Own A BlackBerry?? **

This thought has been lingering on my mind for some time now, about “who really should own a blackberry?”

I was at my work place recently and this bloke steps up to me, and says ‘please I can’t find my pinging’ :/ (Lmao); as funny as it sounded, I felt really disappointed. First of all, his grammer was bad enough to own such a resourceful device like this. Going back to the drawing boards, what are BlackBerry(s) really meant for? Business? Yeah!; Communication? Yeah!; Socialization? Yeah!

Now we all can agree that these are like the three (3) major reasons why you should/could own this device. Now this my guy here really had no reason to owning a device like this, looking at it, what kind of business can this guy carry out on a smartphone smarter than himself? or what calibre of friends will he be socializing with?

Though, even some of us who claim to be literate, and all, we still send silly, shallow and baseless BCs, put up shameful pictures and abuse this precious device. Are we @FathomBerry supposed to do some kinda post on ethics?? naaaah! Don’t even expect it.

So whether its a gift or you actually bled and sweated to get this smart phone, please treat your device with some iota respect and dignity. Learn how to use it properly, we @FathomBerry exist for this exact purpose. Ask us anything, we don’t mind giving BB 101 lessons 😀

Some updates before we say tata!

* Summing up the latest rumors around the features and specifications of the first BlackBerry 10 full touchscreen phone, rumored to be the BlackBerry Z10. We got to even see the specs. As we know it, the “BlackBerry L-Series” is a compilation of devices (London, Lisbon and Laguna) that will slightly differ across the various regions in which they will be released. In short, that means that while they should all visually look the same on the outside, some of the internal hardware will vary and allow for different network access throughout carriers in these areas. So here are the specs :

Dual Core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470・ Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 (US and Canada)
Quad Band HSPA+ / UMTS (850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz) ・Quad Band GSM / GPRS (850/900/1800MHz) ・Quad Band LTE: Bands 2,4,5,13,17 (700, 850,1700, 1900MHz)

Ambient Light Detector ・Accelerometer ・Magnetometer ・Gyroscope ・Face Detect for phone calls

* WhatsApp
We actually heard there might not be WhatsApp on the BB10 yet, the thing is most companies when asked will give that sort of generic answer because chances are the person you’re asking either doesn’t know or doesn’t want to say, but recently a response was gotten that it will be available on launch. Nice!

* Playbook OS
The BlackBerry playbook Os has been updated to Comes with some fixes.

* Beta Zone.
The Blackberry Beta zone is now available in 23 additional countries.
Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Rep. ,Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Venezuela.

I believe we all have seen the new twitter and Facebook Apps already so that no news and yeah, Blackberry has decided to change the name of their online app store from ‘BlackBerry App World’ to ‘BlackBerry World’ because there’ll be more than just Apps in the BlackBerry World come 2013 and BB 10.

And just a little something something, President Barack Obama still uses his BlackBerry 😀

More to come……….FB
